Catherine met Prof. Xu Ming of Donghua University during her visit to Shanghai of China in mid January. Prof. Xu is the Executive Director of Glorious Sun Institute of Management. His profession is extensive. He started as a quality management expert some 20 years ago. During those years, he had met Prof. Akao in several international occasions. In recent years, he has further developed himself into a service management expert. Prof. Xu is a pioneer of service innovation in China. His present research is focused on deriving the principles and formulating the classifications for service innovation. Upon understanding the latest development of QFD from Catherine, Prof. Xu is very interested in the ways how QFD could assist in enhancing service innovation. This is also an area which Catherine has much interest to explore. Prof. Xu and Catherine had a very fruitful discussion though it was the first time they met. They both look forward to having chances for making further and more in-depth exchange.
