After receiving the first Ishikawa-Kano Award at Asian Network for Quality Congress (ANQ), which held in New Delhi of India on 19th - 22nd November 2010, Prof. Akao made a stop at Malaysia before he got back to Japan. As the founder of QFD, the major purpose of his visit to Malaysia this time was to conduct his first QFD Workshop there. SIRIM was the organizer of the workshop. Dr. Mohd Azman Idris, Senior General Manager of Quality & Enterprise Management Centre of SIRIM, Prof. Akao as well as Catherine have known one another for many years. Dr. Mohd Idris and Mr. Safuan Bin Idris, Head of Service Quality & Research Section of Quality & Entrepreneur Management Center of SIRIM, warmly welcomed Prof. and Mrs. Akao as well as Catherine and her husband.
In the sunny and leisure afternoon of 24th November, Dr. Mohd Idris and Mr. Safuan Idris first brought Prof. and Mrs. Akao as well as Catherine and her husband to have a delicious Thai lunch and then visit the beautiful Blue Mosque of Ahah Alam, a landmark of the city at which the QFD Workshop was held.
Not only Dr. Mohd Idris and Mr. Safuan Idris, but all members of Quality Service Department of SIRIM had a fun time with Prof. and Mrs. Akao as well as Catherine and her husband during their stay. They made use of every opportunity to bring them to taste famous Malaysian cusines and local dishes. Prof. Akao is a South-east Asian food lover and he enjoyed every single meal. Besides wonderful food, they also visited some attractions in Kuala Lumpur. In this visit, they conducted a successful QFD Workshop, and, they had a happy time in Malaysia, too.
