The 34th Annual General Meeting cum Annual Dinner of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (Hong Kong) was held on 26th September 2014 at World Trade Center Club. This year's theme was “IE in Service Industry”. Catherine was invited as one of distinguished guests of the event. There were two Guests of Honour on that evening. The first one was Ir. Dr. the Hon Lo Wai Kwok, BBS, MH, JP. He made a speech on the topic of “Improving Hong Kong’s Competitive Edge through Industrial Engineering”. The second one was Dr. Kailash C. Kapur. He spoke to the participants on the topic of "Industrial Engineering for Principle Centered Service Quality". Both Guests of Honour highlighted the importance of industrial engineering in the new i-era and shared their views of the changing role of industrial engineers in the modern service industries.
Besides Dr. Gary Tsui, new President, and Mr. Harry Li, President (2013-14) of IIE(HK), Catherine was happy meeting some old friends there, including Ir. Dr. Lotto Lai (Ex-President, Hong Kong Society for Quality), Mr. Darim Yim (President, Engineering Enterprise Management Alumni Association, HKUST) and Ir. Dr. Aaron Tong (Vice Chairman, TQM Consultants Co Ltd). She enjoyed the dinner very much and had a very happy time on that evening.
