Catherine conducted the 1st lecture of the QFD Training to the staff of Kam Yuen (International) Watch Case Limited at the plant of Zhong Shan in Guang Dong of China on 22nd May 2013. The company is a leading manufacturer of stainless steel watch case and bracelet, and, it has been a major factory for Japanese-brand watches since the 1980s. This year, the company and other members celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Kam Yuen Group. It is now one of the top manufacturers of the industry in the world. Mr. Daily Cheung, Quality Manager of the company, told Catherine that he has set up a year plan for introducing QFD to his colleagues. On the one hand, the QFD Lecture provides a learning opportunity for his colleagues. On the other hand, the fundamental principles and basic techniques of QFD that learnt from the lecture will be used by his colleagues to do planning and to operate several quality issues of the company. Catherine was happy to see almost 40 staff from the sales, engineering and quality departments came to the lecture. QFD is new to most of the attendees. However, they accept new concepts readily and enjoy learning new things very much. The positive attitude, the happy mood, the high commitment of the participants have added much fun to the class. Catherine appreciates the creative ideas the participants came up in doing the group exercises. She had a wonderful time with the participants on that "Black Rain" morning.
