Dr. Joanne Yip and Catherine were "classmates" in term of Dr. K. Chan of Institute of Textiles and Clothing of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an academician and an expert of textiles and quality management, was the PhD supervisor of both of them. Although Joanne's research is in the domain of textiles, she knows QFD and she would like her intimate apparel students to know QFD as well. She invited Catherine to deliver a QFD talk to her class in the afternoon of 31st October 2011. In view of intimate apparel is both a fashion and a functional garment, Catherine focused on explaining to the students how QFD would facilitate product development. She would like them to realize that QFD could effectively help understand both the aesthetic and the practical needs with intimate apparel of their target wearers. The understanding with the wearers' needs is important to making design, the part of work of which many students greatly enjoy both the process and the final styles they produced.
